Writing for connection and care

As a therapeutic and expressive writing facilitator, I draw on trauma-informed narrative and response-based practices to help others use writing to develop coping skills, imagine and play, feel anchored in an uncertain world, and express themselves in their own words on their own terms. Writing can serve as both a practical tool and an emotional anchor, especially for those of us who are shy, introverted, or already writers. In this session, we’ll write to connect with ourselves and each other in a relaxed atmosphere. We’ll learn about the benefits of creating our own writing practice, as well as how we can care for ourselves while writing. There will be opportunities for sharing and reflection, however, no one is obligated to share what they write. No writing experience is necessary.

Note: This is a private session for TBCDSB secondary teachers Professional Development day.

a near or far place of wonder

We will explore the theme of “a near or far place of wonder” with arts facilitation offered by: Stacey Hare Hodgins, Tamara Rose, ElizaBeth Hill and Zoe Gordon. This multidisciplinary workshop involves writing, improvisational theatre and sound, and was collaboratively developed with guidance from artist Eleanor Albanese. Our hope is to provide an opportunity to connect with one another, with unfamiliar art forms, and to deepen our creative practices.

Participation is free and open to Mindful Makers Collective members.

Writing Imaginary Places

Virtual Writing Series for Members of Mindful Makers Collective

For the month of May, Stacey will offer weekly prompts and audio clips to help us playfully explore the theme of ‘imaginary places’ through writing at our own pace. She will also share some tips for creating a personal writing practice, including the use of rituals that can support our art or self-care practices at home.
